BCE provided mechanical design services for a new 16-bed Behavioral Health Facility in Centralia and a new 48-bed Behavioral Health Facility in Vancouver. The 16-bed facility includes the design of a single story, 17,600 SF building on the Maple Lane campus. The 48-bed project includes the design of three separate 16-bed, single story buildings on the same campus, each approximately 17,600 SF in size. Though the buildings are on separate campuses, they utilized a similar building designs to maximize the budgets.

Energy efficiencies were a clear goal on both projects, which are targeting net zero and LEED Silver. BCE provided iterative energy model simulations that were checked against the benchmark goals established early in the process. The resulting systems included a high performance Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system with a central dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS), Photovoltaic (PV) array on the roof, and a high efficiency split system domestic water heating system. The buildings do not use any fossil fuel-burning systems. The buildings are set to achieve sustainable, resilient, and a low carbon footprint while retaining maintenance friendly and simple to use attributes.
