Highline College's Health and Life Sciences Building (Bldg 26) was a three-story concrete structure built more than 40 years ago. Extensive renovations were necessary for increased functionality and to address life safety concerns. BCE provided mechanical and fire protection designs for the complete renovation of over 40,000 SF of the second and third floors, as well as partial renovation of the first floor of the building. The interior remodel allowed for program spaces, faculty offices and improvements to the overall site. It also included a 15,000 sf expansion for faculty offices and ancillary spaces. Mechanical designs included HVAC, DDC control system, plumbing, compressed air and vacuum system for simulated patient gases.
