Meadow Crest Early Learning Center
Particular attention was paid to sustainability, life cycle cost, and ease of operation and maintenance of all systems and equipment for this $19M, 68,300 square foot early childhood learning center in Renton, WA. High efficiency classroom lighting is dimmable and controlled through a daylight harvesting system that dims the lights in response to the quantity of incoming natural light. Site lighting utilizes highly efficient LED fixtures. A radiant slab heating system, ideal for small children playing on the floor, was utilized in the classrooms and play-court areas to further improve comfort for the end user.
The success of this project resulted in the City of Renton and the Renton School District being awarded the Washington Governor's 2014 Smart Communities Award.
