Originally constructed in 1971, the existing Memorial Field had surpassed fifty years and was in need of renovation. In 2017, the voters of Federal Way gave their approval to a bond measure that allocated funds for a complete overhaul of this aging facility, and in early 2023, construction on the new Memorial Field began.

BCE provided mechanical and electrical engineering for this project that revamped the entire athletic campus. This transformation encompassed the installation of new home and visitor grandstands capable of accommodating a total of 4,000 spectators, along with the replacement of the field turf and track. Furthermore, enhancements were made in the form of new LED field lighting, an upgraded field sound system, and the construction of new coaches' and press booths. Accessory structures, such as concession stands, ticket booths, restrooms, and utility spaces, were also added. Additionally, the locker rooms and athletic offices are new.

Notably, the grandstand and accessory building lights are wirelessly controlled through a mesh network, eliminating the need for control wires to traverse the entire field. The grandstand on the "home side" is equipped with color-changing lights, which can be used to illuminate the structure in the school or team's colors.

Also included are security upgrades, improved parking lot lighting, and pedestrian lighting. The lighting system is programmed to comply with the Washington State Energy Code and is scheduled for nightly off periods. New lighting was also installed in the South parking lot and along the 14th Ave S. extension, with pole-mounted lights used to illuminate pathways where building-mounted lights are impractical.

The field lighting consists of LED sports field fixtures mounted on four 100-foot poles, with two on each side of the field. These fixtures are designed to minimize light spillage and maximize visibility on the field. Lower-power LED lights on shorter poles serve as "ball tracker" lights. Manual control of the field lighting is available at the Southern home side restroom/concessions building, and portable electronic devices can also take charge of field lighting through a dedicated application, software, and authorized credentials.

The mechanical systems consist of HVAC and plumbing for the new buildings and renovated locker rooms. This includes restroom heating and exhaust. The heating units are electric resistance unit heaters, and the exhaust fans are wall-pack exhaust fans with wall make-up air louvers. The exhaust fans and make-up air louvers include motorized dampers to avoid unwanted infiltration when the buildings are unoccupied.
