Pierce County Central Maintenance Facility (CMF)

The Central Maintenance Facility (CMF) supports over 150 Pierce County road maintenance crews and administrative staff in 167,000 square feet distributed among six buildings on a 34 acre campus. Pierce County Public Works & Utilities Transportation Services combined the operations of two road shop facilities (Puyallup & Elk Plain) into a single facility. The Equipment Services Division also shares this $26M facility. BCE provided mechanical, electrical, and fire protection designs, which included a rainwater collection system that produces water for toilet flushing. This project is certified LEED Silver.

The CMF complex includes the following buildings:
Bldg. 1 -  Administration: This 23,000sf two-story building houses the offices of the engineering staff on the 2nd floor, and the bottom floor accommodates approximately 70 road operation workers to include locker rooms, mud room, dispatch and supervisors offices. 
Bldg. 2 -  Equipment Services: 31,000sf of covered storage for medium-sized vehicles and equipment as well as a tool room and equipment maintenance space for the Equipment Services Division.
Bldg. 3&6 -  Vehicle Storage: 31,000sf, these two buildings are single story with a tool room and medium-sized vehicle storage space, as well as some heated areas for weather sensitive vehicles.
Bldg. 4 - Large Vehicle Storage: One-story 40,500sf building with some heated areas for large vehicles to include dump trucks, road graders, vactor trucks, street sweeps, loaders, and trailer mounted machinery.

Bldg. 5 - Fuel/Wash: 9,000sf covered vehicle wash and fueling station.
Bldg. 7 - Covered building for various materials and equipment.
