The new Stanwood High School is a 241,000 SF, three-story building with a capacity for 1,200 students and 69 teaching stations. BCE provided mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering for the redevelopment of a 62.2 acre campus that included a replacement high school, a replacement alternative high school, an addition and renovation of the District's Maintenance and Technology Center, an expansion of the fieldhouse, a renovation of the grandstand, and replacement of all the sports fields and parking.

The school is a great example of how technology can be used to improve safety, teacher and staff efficiency, and the overall student experience. The school's new 500-seat Performing Arts Center includes a rigging-flown LED video wall and a state-of-the-art sound system. Three new gymnasiums in a multi-level building feature two video wall scoreboards and a three-partition sound system. Additionally, a comprehensive camera system provides security coverage across multiple buildings while a single-entry vestibule, which is locked after school begins each day, minimizes access points to the school.

The mechanical system is designed to combat the transmission of respiratory illnesses utilizing a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) fitted with MERV-13 filtration and energy recovery wheels to provide outside air ventilation, which does not recirculate air back to the occupied spaces during the school day.

The electrical systems consist of power, lighting, and low voltage systems. The classrooms and offices include 2'x4' recessed LED fixtures. Classrooms include automatic Daylight Harvesting and dimming controls. Exterior LED lighting is included around the building's perimeter and exterior pathways and includes a combination of building-mounted light fixtures, pedestrian scale, and pole-mounted light fixtures.
