Western Washington University Mathes Hall Renovation

Mathes Hall is a 10-story non-combustible construction building, consisting of a basement level and nine occupied dormitory floors. BCE designed new fire protection sprinkler systems that were retrofitted into the existing building to meet all applicable codes. A wet pipe automatic fire protection sprinkler systems was designed and installed to protect the interior of the building, with a dry pipe automatic fire protection sprinkler system protecting the exterior. A Class I manual wet standpipe system was installed in the north and south stair shafts. The standpipe system installed in the north stair shaft also serves as the supply for the individual floor sprinkler systems.
